How it all Began.

Hi everyone! Welcome to my love project, Parting Paws. Before you keep reading please be prepared for tears, strength, and love. While many think I have the worst job in the world, I couldn't disagree more and feel I have the most meaningful job.

Before we get to all things Parting Paws, you must get to know me, I am a Leo after all.

I grew up on a dairy farm in central New York. I had the childhood, I wish all could experience. I had fresh air, room to run, animals everywhere and parents that showed me exactly what hard work looked like. Horses were my favorite and I enjoyed everything from trail riding to barrel racing.

I also loved sports and being active, swimming and softball were my jam.

Being a veterinarian was always on the table, I love animals as well as science and math. My family running a large farm gave me the work ethic and motivation I needed to know that farming was not in the cards and caring for animals another way would have to be the plan.

After receiving my Bachelor of Science degree in cellular biology I was off to Cornell to become a veterinarian. I will never forget the day the acceptance letter came, it was a dream come true, I was so proud.

After graduation I started my career as Dr. Abby Regner at a small animal practice in central New York. We provided general practice during business hours and emergency medicine after hours. I grew into the medical director role, learning to lead a large team with a focus on best medicine with best teammate care as well.

I started Parting Paws with a deep desire to protect the human-animal bond on the day when love is the most important thing, the only thing left. I felt a pull to allow families a chance to say their goodbye in their space, with their people, and their rules. The more pets I helped the more purpose I felt and the rest is history.

I left my stable career, the patients I had spent years caring for and the team I cared deeply about. As hard as that all was, I knew what I was doing was important and pets deserved my help to find rest where they felt safe.

Parting Paws changed my life, a spark in my soul ignited.
